The complete Word

Dear editor:

Mrs. Robinson's "P.S." in her response to "Mr. Doc" (9-30-18), asked the question, "Has the new liberal version of the Bible come out yet?", called to my mind that they have been published since 1884. In fact, there are over 40 different so-called "Bibles" on the market today purported to be modern, up-to-date, easy-to-read study editions supposedly based on the Greek and Hebrew texts. However, they are missing important words, phrases and verses.

Have you ever wondered why your Bible doesn't coincide with your minister's sermon text? You might have noticed subtle changes in your edition and wondered if you have the complete and true Word of God.

For instance, read Judges 15:15-19 in your Bible about Samson killing one thousand Philistine soldiers with the "jawbone of an ass." When he was finished he became thirsty and called on God to provide water. The Amplified Bible says that "God split open the hollow place that was at Lehi -- called En-hakkore (the spring of him who prayed)." The King James Version says that God "claved (bored out) an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout." Many study Bibles say a ground spring burst forth and denies God's miracle of using the jawbone as Samson's cistern.

Another example of Scripture manipulation is found in John 7:8-10. Jesus tells His disciples to attend the feast of tabernacles in Jerusalem. Many translations have Jesus saying, "I go not up unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come." Verse 9 says He remained in Galilee, and verse 10 says He went to the feast later. The omission of the word "yet," between "up" and "unto" in verse 8 makes Jesus a liar, but John 1:17; 8:45-46; 14:6 say that the Lord Jesus always told the truth.

If you do not have the 1611 King James Version of the Bible, then your Bible is defective. But watch out for those "look-alike" New King James Version editions which have changed the meanings of words to go along with many corrupt Bibles. Satan is always trying to lead unsuspecting Christians to doubt the Word of God through translators who believe they have the genius to rewrite the Scriptures. He is too smart to try to destroy the Bible, but he can do more things to corrupt it in the minds and hearts of God's elect: either adding to or subtracting from God's Word. Remember God's warning in Revelation 22:18-19.

P.S.: For further information, let me suggest "Look What's Missing" by David W. Daniels. He exposes 257 omitted words, phrases and whole passages of Scriptures.
