The Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church, in conjunction with the Muses Creative Artistry Project, the choir at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, and voices from Henderson State University and the Hot Springs community will present an "Epiphany Sacred Choral Program" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 213 Whittington Ave.
Directed by Deleen Davidson, the combined choir will sing classical Christmas and Epiphany anthems from across the centuries that celebrate the birth of Jesus and his shining forth in the lives of those who witnessed this miraculous event.
Combined with elements of a traditional worship experience, the choral pieces, which span several centuries, will tell the story of Christ's coming -- from prophetic callings in the Old Testament and the birth of John The Baptist, to Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, and the Angels' proclamation to shepherds in the field who run to Bethlehem to see this birth, which God has sent to comfort all people.
The overarching theme of the service welcomes the worshiper, with the shepherds, to behold the good news of Christ's birth in their life.
The season of Epiphany celebrates God's light revealed to the world in Jesus Christ. The members of First Presbyterian Church welcome the public to join them for this free concert and experience the light that God has placed in each of us for the reconciliation of the world.Religion on 01/13/2018
