Lakeside bowlers secure second straight conference championship

CABOT -- Lakeside and Hot Springs' bowling teams booked their places in the state tournament this week in Lowell.

The Lakeside boys' team won its second consecutive conference title Friday in the 5A-4A West conference tournament at Professor Bowl West in Little Rock. The Rams finished with four all-conference bowlers.

Their total pin count was 3,782. Hot Springs placed second with a total of 3,297 pins.

All-conference for Lakeside was Ben Larimore, third place, with games of 157, 204 and 183 for a series of 544; Landon Gray, fourth place, with games of 165, 232 and 169 for a series of 566; Tyson Keeney, fifth place, with games of 157, 204 and 183 for a series of 544; and Hunter Rhodes, 12th place, who had a series of 472 with games of 132, 165 and 175.

Elijah Felling, of Hot Springs, was the top overall bowler with a 630 series of games of 202, 258 and 170.

Lakeside's Jimmy Tejcek finished with a 449 series with games of 178, 124 and 147. Kade Tarbet bowled games of 138, 116 and 160 for a 414 series.

The 5A-4A state tournament will be held Wednesday at Fast Lanes Entertainment in Lowell, outside of Rogers. The state competition consists of the top five teams from the West conference and the top five from the East, as well as the top six individuals who were not members of qualifying teams.

The Lady Trojans placed third and the Lady Rams were fourth in the girls' competition. Greenbrier took first place with a total pin count of 3,263, with Gentry in second with 3,165.

Melissa Perrigo bowled a 333 series with games of 120, 114 and 99 for Lakeside. Hannah Irwin bowled a 378 with games of 123, 133 and 122. Ana Rose Nagy bowled a 338 with games of 105,96 and 137. Destiny Phillips bowled games of 90, 108 and 111 for 309. Chloe Junkerman bowled a 340 with games of 116, 130 and 103. Bree Green bowled 109, 140 and 105 for a series of 340.
