MALVERN -- Sister Maude Esther Reed McGill (Mama Maude), the daughter of the late William Alexander Reed and Ina Mae Howell Reed, was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Malvern, Ark. She departed this life Oct. 6, 2017, at National Park Medical Center, Hot Springs, Ark.
She was reared and educated in the public school of Malvern, Ark.
Sister McGill was predeceased by her parents, three husbands: Johnny Armstrong, Willie G. Reggans and Floyd McGill; one great-grandson, Ethon Boyer V; nine siblings -- three sisters and six brothers.
Sister McGill was an employee of Euthah Jones' Pressing Shop, City Laundry, Dagans Cleaners and Haskins Trucking Company, from which she retired. After her retirement, she worked part time for Johnson's Mortuary.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memory one daughter, Mrs. Asenatha McCauley (Robert), of Hot Springs, Ark.; three granddaughters: Yolanda McCollum and Iris Clegg (Brian), both of Malvern, Ark., Candis Smith (Antonio), of Cerritos, Calif.; one grandson, Keith McCauley (Marisa), of Hot Springs, Ark.; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special caregiver: Vanessa Huell, whom she thought of as a granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a home going funeral celebration at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at First Baptist Church Vine Street, Malvern, Ark. Visitation will be at Brandon's Mortuary in Malvern from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. Her earthly body will be laid to rest at Masonic Cemetery, Malvern.
