Jack Phillips, 76, was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Ansley, La., to Beatrice Howard, and passed from this life on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, after a short illness.
He attended Ansley Public Schools in Louisiana. After moving to Hot Springs, Ark., Jack created quite a name for himself as a car detailer. He used his hands to create, repair, construct and fix cars. His work in detailing automobiles eventually led to his love of cars. As a hobby, he loved hunting wildlife, especially deer. And he belonged to several deer camps. He was also a sports enthusiast, as well as a "Man About Town." Always neatly dressed and well groomed.
Over his lifetime, Jack attended and joined several churches in the city of Hot Springs and enjoyed his time in God's house of refuge. He was a man who enjoyed the opportunity to help anyone who needed his help. He enjoyed listening to music, playing cards and being with his nephew, Ricky, who was more like his brother.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his words of wisdom, his strength, laughter and love. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Howard.
He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Jay Shawn (Tiffany), Alvin, Calvin, Darien and Jory Phillips; daughters, Sandra Kay and Jeannie (Untuawn); sister, Jean Pope; nephews, Rickey Thompson, Nelson Thompson and Cleopha Pope; sister-in-law, Betty Burnell (friend David); brother-in-law, Carl Glover. He had a special love for his grandchildren, Lauren, Coianan,Tyrill, Jay Shawn II, Keith, Joshua and James; and a special friend, Levell Foote.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at the St. Mark Baptist Church with services to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry McDaniel bringing the eulogy.
