Religious persecution throughout the world is at an all-time high. A local nonprofit has created an event to bridge awareness about this sometimes forgotten subject.
Firefall International will host a pastor from Myanmar, formerly Burma, for a special event, "Eyewitness Accounts of the Persecuted Church," in Williams Hall at Garland County Library from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 14. Firefall International is a nonprofit Christian organization founded 23 years ago by locals Jim and Nancy Pennington with a mission to build relationships internationally through mentoring leaders and providing resources for sport outreach, church planting and humanitarian aid.
The event is free and will offer attendees an opportunity to have a conversation with persecuted believers. A report from a recent visit to Vietnam will be included.
