James "Jim" Sanderson, age 65, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017.
He was born on Oct. 17, 1952, in Madison, Wis., the son of Dr. Richard Sanderson and Georgia Dickey Sanderson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim also lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Kansas City, Mo., until he settled in Hot Springs. He was known and loved by so many in the Hot Springs area. Sharing his love for music and using his skills as a sound engineer, he enhanced the performances of several top artists. He was a member of the IAISE Local No. 201 and was employed by Little Rock Stage Group.
He loved his home, which he named Goose Poop ranch, where he lived with his beloved cat Thelma, and a menagerie of birds, geese and other animals.
Much of the time you could find him speeding along in his Mini Cooper, enjoying everything the road had to offer and taking incredible photos along the way.
Jim brought a warm smile and encouraging spirit everywhere he went. He was employed by Hot Springs National Park (Bathhouse Row) where he had volunteered for many years. How fortunate for the tourists who were shown around our city by such a wonderful guide.
He is survived by cousins, Pamela Woods, of Worthington, Ohio, Dr. James K. Purdy, of Tiger, Ga., Donna Hanson, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Harry Weelborg, of Canton, Kan., Ann Chrisbens, of Boulder, Colo., Dr. James Smith, of Agency, Mo., and Dick Burroughs, of Troy, Idaho; and many friends who considered Jim family.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Davis Smith Funeral Home chapel, Hot Springs.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at The Big Chill, 910 Higdon Ferry Road, following the service.
