HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Hot Springs Village has earned "the prestigious 2017 Seal of Approval" from the American Association of Retirement Communities -- the nation's leading organization for helping local governments and private communities attract retirees.
The AARC Seal of Approval is presented annually to recipients that demonstrate a cutting-edge commitment to attract retirees through lifestyle programming, amenity development, communication programs and education.
"We are honored that Hot Springs Village has been chosen again to receive this prestigious award. It recognizes the efforts of our community as we strive to offer amenities and lifestyle experiences for those looking to find their next place to call home," said Linda Mayhood, COO of Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association, in the press release. The award was presented to Mayhood during the annual AARC conference in Wilmington, N.C., on Nov. 16.
"Hot Springs Village, the nation's largest gated community, is spread across 26,000 acres in west central Arkansas' Ouachita Mountains and offers the natural beauty of sweeping vistas, lush forests and sparkling lakes.
"Residents of Hot Springs Village enjoy unsurpassed community and lifestyle offerings, including nine signature golf courses, a 13-court tennis center, swimming, boating and fishing, over 30 miles of hiking trails, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a performing arts center, library, community center and over 200 clubs and organizations."
Mayhood has served on AARC's National Board since 2004. She is a past president and treasurer of this organization.
The AARC's Seal of Approval program was established in 1994. Award-winners are evaluated by a national panel of retirement destination experts on a variety of criteria, including health care, retiree-appropriate housing, lifestyle amenities, adult education, recreational and cultural opportunities, and governmental and private support of retiree-focused programs.
